It would be impossible to answer your question without knowing something about your 7 year old computer like the operating system (i.e. Win 95, 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, linux, or whatever), what CPU, memory, drives, and perhaps what you are doing when it freezes. Otherwise I'd say that your computer is failing because it is 7 years old. A 1996 computer is reaching the end of its life cycle, and altho it may be saveable, the question then becomes "is it worth it?" YOu need to provide more info.

>I don't know how to get my question answered. I am new and green. My home computer keeps freezing on me. It is about 7 years old. What can I do? Thank you for your help. Pam Gutierrez

When using the back button to return to almost any webpage I get an error message that "This page provides potentially unsafe information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly." and have to click OK to continue. I occasionally get the message without using the back button. How do I get rid of the message, preferably without changing any security settings?
