It depends on what kind of system you have. I have a lowly (by todays standards)
Pentium 200MMX, but my entire disk subsystem is driven by an Adaptec AHA2940UW
SCSI controller. I have two Ultra-Wide SCSI disks, a Plextor SCSI CDROM (20X)
and Panasonic 4X CD writer. I have no problems at all writing at 4X, and I am
sure there would be no problem at 6X or even higher since the SCSI system
greatly reduces the need for the CPU to get involved.

EIDE based systems may have more problems. Using intelligent configuration of
the drives would help, ie. the source disk and the writer would want to be
masters on separate IDE channels. 4X on a 200Mhz processor might be challenging,
I would anticipate that a 6X would require at least a 366 to 400Mhz processor.
