I have experienced this issue before, though it has been quite a
while.   I runs in my mind that it involves your Network card.  Try
removing it and then restarting.   I believe the system misidentified
your lan card and installed the wrong driver...   and then it locks
when trying to install the driver for it.

Like I said, it has been a while on this one and I may be off base...
but, it cannot hurt to try.
