Hello. Today I had an unexpected problem with my desktop. I'm running WinXP on a generic athlonXP 2000+ with 512MB of PC2100. I booted it with a parallel ZIP100 drive installed. Then I disconnected the drive to transfer a file from my laptop. I reconnected it and attempted to access it in windows explorer. The pointer turned into an hourglass and several minutes later nothing. I tried to shut the computer down and it froze at the desktop before actually shutting down. So I held down the power button until it went off, waited a few seconds and tried to reboot it. Well, the lights around the power button come on and it beeps two tones, both low but the first higher than the 2nd(reminds me of french police sirens in the movies). I have to turn off the power supply in the back to make it stop. I do not have the motherboard manual handy so I can't look it up. It has done this 2-3 times before during various circumstances. Each time though, when I left it off for a while and turned it back on, it worked fine. Not this time...check that, I just tried it one last time and it is booting now. This does make me uncomfortable though. Anyone have any idea what's going on or what I need to do? Thank you.

Joseph
