Karl,

Try changing the screen resolution in your display settings, and see if the
same symptom occurs.  If it does, try another resolution.  If one or more do
not fail, you need to find and install better drivers for your video card on
XP.

>When I attempt to start some programs the monitor goes blank.. and the
amber light comes on showing that I have lost "feed" to it from the
computer. any ideas?
