Well, I'm curious about a few things.

1. Is this the only HD in the system?

2. Are you trying to install an OS onto it?

Check jumpers! Go to IBM's web site and download the diagrams for the
jumpers. I recently put a Seagate drive in a system in which the diagram on
the drive was difficult to understand. I went to the web site and downloaded
the diagrams which showed me that I had to turn the drive over to properly
see where the jumper needed to go.

Sometimes these are driver errors. So, if you've recently added the drive to
your system and installed it in Win2k and _then_ the problem started
occurring, that's where I'd look first. Boot into Safe Mode and get rid of
the drive.
