According to the ATI web site, the AIW 9800 Pro is an 8x/4x/2x compatible
AGP board. See..

http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9800/aiw9800pro/specs.html

It is true that you have to be careful with older AGP cards to make sure
they are compatible. The AGP slot is keyed to prevent you from plugging in
an incompatible card. But most modern AGP cards are at least 4x, and should
work with the modern motherboards.
