     I have not heard that, just the opposite.  I tried it on my 486
following
the chip placement requirements and ignoring the fact it was EDO ---  It
did not work. But then again, I did not "expect it" to...
     The EDO chips were "known good" and are still in use in the "proper"
type of motherboard.
