  Hello,

        I just installed a PCI Aopen 56.6 modem in a machine(Pentium
233mmx with a TX based MB and 32MB Sdram), it seems to work ok
browsing the net and with other communications programs. The glitch I
have with it is that when software is launched that is going to use
the modem when it first queries it the mouse cursor will stop or slow
up for a second or 2(utilizing too much CPU power?), after that it
seem to work ok. The other trouble is that when it is used to play
multiplayer games(Quake, Shadow Warrior, etc.)the connection lags.
Seems as if the person who is connecting(either the Aopen to another
machine or another machine to the Aopen)runs slow and the other will
run without lag. Is there a setting somewhere that I may be
missing...or is this something that might be particular to PCI
modems? I really do not care about the games but I am concerned that
this may be indicative of a hardware problem. Thanks for any
information.
