This is a strange problem.  It sounds like your system is not initializing
the card correctly.  Here's a couple of things to look at:
1. Check the  Control Panel | system | Device Manager | Network Adapter to
ensure it doesn't have an error.
2. Open "winipcfg" to see if card is present on the list of devices.
3. Long shot - the card isn't disabled in the "hardware profile"
