Bob,
The touch pad can be disabled (My preference) or adjusted for sensitivity.
Try mouse in control panel for adjustment tabs, or look on the taskbar for
an icon named Synaptics.

Subject: [PCBUILD] T40 Touchpad too sensitive

I bought a reconditioned IBM T40 Thinkpad from Tiger Direct. It came with
two partitions, 1.Win XP, and 2. a partition to restore the operating
system. I'm very happy with it except for one problem:

The mouse pad has a tap feature which is overly sensitive. This causes
undesired and sometimes unknown input to the machine. I find it completely
unreliable unless I use an external mouse, then it is perfect. I've been
unable to permanently disable or desensitize the tap feature.

Does anybody know a way to do that with a setting or maybe a different or
3rd party mousepad driver or ? ? ?

Thanks
