I have seen this problem a lot.
1) try another boot floppy disk
2) check floppy cable and connection
3) try another floppy drive (different brand)

Good luck

Subject: [PCBUILD] Boot failure

> I have just built a new PC using a Gigabyte GA 71XE4 Mobo, AMD Athlon 900
CPU, IBM 40 GB HDD and am trying to boot up for the first time. I have got
what I believe is to be a valid boot disk from the IBM website for first
time running but all I get is:
> Searching for boot record from floppy..not found
> Searching for boot record from IDE-0..not found
> Searching for boot record from CDROM..not found
>
> Boot failure
> Insert BOOT diskette in A:
> press any key when ready

> needless to say, when I press enter the drive spins up and after a couple
of seconds I get the same lines repeated.
> Any clues??
