I forgot some things in my last reply.
(I hope that one hits the list first <grin>)

Some older drives do not like "some" other older drives
being on the same cable together. It is sort of a fight,
since they were made by different manufactures and
just plain do not get along with each other...

Some of my older drives are either not marked for
Cable Select jumpers, or do not support it at all.
(Can't say which for sure.)
Master and slave "should" always work, unless the
drives pick a fight with each other...
