I have recently installed an HP8200 internal CD-RW into my Gateway 366. The
computer has an existing CD-ROM.
So, now, each are connected to the IDE connection (CD-ROM is master, CD-RW
is slave).

My problem is that the existing CD-ROM will now crash the computer and force
a reboot each time it is accessed. I'm assuming there is a driver that is
conflicting or that I didn't do something correctly. I've been able to get
the CD-ROM to work by letting Windows find DMA (this seems to be the main
problem...Not sure what it is but it is how Windows controls memory
address??) available resources. The CD-ROM will work only if there was
already a CD in it. It will then crash as soon as I'm finished and open the
tray. After rebooting, Windows once again will need to find DMA for the
CD-ROM device.

I am not too technical, but does anybody have any ideas or solutions to get
BOTH drives to work?

Thanks in Advance.
