I don't know of any article, I just know that 4.10.1998 is Win 98 first edition, and that 4/10.2222 is SE. I am as sure of that as I am that the sun rises in the East.

Dear List:

I apologize for giving incorrect information...I was always told though, that if
the "SE" or the words "Second Edition" were missing from the System Information,
that it was First Edition. Although there is nothing on Microsoft.com to
directly prove this, other articles seem to support this.

As some of you know, I work in Tech Support for Bellsouth DSL. I don't want to
tell my customers wrong information, because not only am I committed to my
customers, I would not want to find that a tech had given me bad information! I
said all that to ask this question: Can someone please give me the URL of the
article, so that I can show this to my supervisor?

Thanks in Advance!

Based on this...."Under the "System Information" it says Microsoft Windows 98
4.10.2222"

...you have Windows 98 First Edition.>>>

I am afraid this is not correct. 4.10.2222 is definitely WIN 98SE.

good day--- Venkat
