Thanks for the information.Yep that is what the slot is for and although
it is empty, when you hit the function wireless you can still turn it on
and off


  I have one old laptop with this sort of slot -- old enough that it has
an 802.11b ([log in to unmask]) wifi interface built in -- I got an 802.11g
card at the same time, so the built-in rarely got turned on.  Could that
be what's being turned on and off in this case on your computer?
