I got a P4 2.4GB - the B means that the FSB is at 533MHz - uses PC2700
DDR RAM. The D845PEBT2 motherboard is nice and has easy to configure
CMOS settings. It is not as "adjustable" as overclockers would like, but
it is already fast enough for me! The RAID controller is a Silicon Image
Sil 3112A chip - RAID is optional through its own configuration
settings. The SATA/RAID two channels are in addition to the two IDE
interfaces, so you could have 4 IDE devices and two more SATA devices.
The Iwill I2S IDE to SATA drive adaptors work well and are a clean
design. They cost me $26 each plus $11 shipping.

Good luck with your project. A P4 3G might be nice, but I don't care for
its current price point! I wait for the slope to get a bit shallower
before I buy in. The 2.4GB cost me $190.

My AMD project from last summer is running fine and I'm thinking about
doing
a P4-3.06. I also read that the Intel MB got good reviews. What CPU
are
you running and can the RAID be turned off?
