After reinstalling Windows 98 on my 300 MHz Packard Bell, my monitor will
only offer 640 X 480 resolution. The only choices are 16 colors or 2 colors.

Due to the fact you have a system that is proprietary in nature, you will
experience this problem. You will need the drivers for the video and monitor
before you will see any selection of resolution or color choice.

I think I need proper video drivers but where would I get them.

Do you have the original installation disks that came with the system?
Floppies or the cd's will do. You will have to go into "Windows Explorer"
and search for the drivers and then install them. Right now you have basic
plug and play settings. The operating system doesn't know what to install.
The age of your system and the fact "Packard Bell" is no longer in business
doesn't help either. If you don't have the original disks, you may want to
consider doing a search through "Google" http://www.google.com I typed in
"Packard Bell Video Drivers" (without the quotes) and came up with many
choices. Not knowing what model system you have I wasn't able to pinpoint
the exact drivers.
