Hi:

Some of the newer modems want you to run a setup program before you install
them.

I would check on the recovery disk and see if there is such a program for
yuor modem

If there is:
1) remove all refeferences to the present modem/pci serial device from the
device manager
2) shut system down and remove the modem.
3) start system and install the setup program for the modem
4) shut system down and reinstall the modem and turn system back on and
hopefully everything will be found correctly.
