Interesting post.

I've had my machine show less than the correct amt of RAM if I didn't get
the RAM stick completely pushed down into the slot. If that keeps your
memory from reading, and you have indeed pushed your RAM all the way in,
maybe 16mb worth of your RAM slot is dirty or corroded. I don't know what
to use for cleaning - except extreme care. Radio shack and some others
have a spray bottle of tuner cleaner which cleans out connections,
potentiometers, etc in electronic equip. Maybe that would help.
