Thanks for the reply Larry. I'm sorry but I was trying to keep my original posting as brief as possible, but I really should have mentioned that I was originally using a serial mouse in this port as it is quite an old PC and doesn't have a PS2 port. I have noticed that with the software installed, I get the choice of two mice. A "Microsoft Mouse" and a "Basic Mouse"; this is irrespective of whther I select "Intellimouse" or "Wheel Mouse" from the product menu when installing the software. Do you happen to know if my com port driver is up to date (V 4.10.2222) and if not where I can find an updated version? I've tried the Microsaft site to no avail. This may, of course, not have any bearing on the problem, it is just a thought. Again thanks for your help. John Murray
