I am having a typical problem with my laptop. I tried to install an
external mouse to the PS2 port and it's conflicting with my onboard touchpad.

I disabled my touchpad and this did not solve the problem. I would like to
change my IRQ of my external mouse but windows tells me that i can't change
the IRQ "these resource settings cannot be modified". of course i spoke to
my laptop manufacturer and they told me i should speak to my mouse's
manufacturer and visa versa. Is there a way to change the IRQ through the
registry?

An interesting thing happens. When i start windows with the mouse pluged
in, it goes haywire. If i then unplug it and replug it, it works fine?!
Whats going on?

David
