I am beginning to research purchasing a new replacement laptop. I am familiar with the technical components except the types of laptop displays. The laptop will be used for letters, spreadsheets, email, Internet research, and low tech games. I need at least a 15" screen.

Briefly, what are the differences in the various displays? (TFT, TFT Active Matrix, XGA, XGA+TFT, WXGA, WXGA+TFT, ETC.)

What is the best without considering cost?

What is the best for my use with cost being somewhat a consideration?

Thanks for your help as always.
