Hi,

Your BIOS would need to be updated (flashed). It may or not see the 80 gig
drive when done.
The board manufacturor may not be supporting that large of a drive in that
old of a board.
Maybe 20 or 40 might be the largest a flashed BIOS will support. Try
putting all the info you can find on the main board in a good search
enging, like GOOGLE and see what you can find out about the board.

It may be a signal to think about upgrading the board and CPU also.

Also if you are running windows 98 2nd you will need to go to MS website
for a new FDISK program that will allow the 80 gig drive to be partitioned
correctly, once you get over the BIOS limitation. The fdisk program with
win98 2nd won't do it.

Another alternative, though I don't like doing it, is use a 3rd party
software program that fools the bios into thinking it is a smaller drive.
ONTRACK, EZDRIVE, MAXBLAST, etc. IBM may or may not have a version for
their drives on their website. Usually branded programs are specific to
the brand of drive. 3rd party software should work with all brands.

God Bless America!
