Motherboard hardware clocks are notorious for not keeping good time. The
operating system clocks usually are extremely accurate though. There are
some shareware programs that I have used in the past to fix the displayed
clock time by correcting for the normal amount that the on board clock
gains or looses with the power off. It calculates the amount of correction
that is needed for a few days, and continually refines the amount of
correction needed per day/hour that the machine is off. That was much
easier than changing out a motherboard. A program that I use now is
Atomtime that I run manually each time I connect to the internet, to
synchronize my computer to an atomic clock standard.
