Sounds like your northbridge may be slowly failing. The PCI bus controller
is sandwiched in there along with the embedded GPU and other stuff. The
southbridge typically acts as the IDE controller, sound card processor, and
a cpl other pieces, but it ties back through the northbridge before data
heads onto the frontside bus bound for RAM and CPU, or backside onto the AGP
bus. Change the mainboard for a known good and see if it is still fruity.
Only other part past that to change is the CPU and the power supply. Might
also be a good idea to load test the power supply and see if you get strange
voltage and amperage readings. Dirty power from the supply can wig out
perfectly good parts. Good luck with this one. :)

Subject: [PCBUILD] Hardware Failure

Recently using a Desktop computer with Asus p4p800s Mobo 478 socket. P4 HT
3.0 cpu with 184 pin sd ddram 400/pc3200. Agp 8x radeon x1300 256. Started
slowing down on a previous hard drive which was 120 gb windows xp sp2. after
trying to restart got a corrupt sys32 file so i reformatted and still
received blue screens. Replaced hard drive and ram so farm tried booting
Knoppix and still restarts. Changed video card out with another just to see
if it was that but no problems, pretty new video card. Re seated everything
even cpu and mobo, i think the mobo might be shot but i figure someone else
might have had this issue or seen this problem before. If you need to ask
anymore questions send me an email.
