Check at the website (support section) of the manufacturer of the laptop for
the existence of Windows 9x/ME drivers for all of the hardware present in
the laptop.  If there are no drivers for ME you will have degraded
performance or loss of use of that(those) hardware device(s).

Can you format a laptop hard drive that has windows XP on it and then
replace it with Windows ME without any problems?  On the case it says
designed for Windows XP.  I thought that, if nothing else, the short cut
keys might not work?
