All you need is a combo 4-port router/switchbox and two ethernet cables to connect the computers to the router and to each other for a home network. You can get either wired or wi-fi routers. It is cheaper, probably $50 or less for a wired router and a couple of ethernet cables than to rig up everything for wireless. You will need an ethernet card for the second computer to connect it to the router if it doesn't already have one. You can get a 10/100 card for $20 or less if you shop around.
