Susan,

You didn't say what the problem was.... won't dial, won't connect, won't
transmit, etc....

I have found that there is some incompatibility between "PC fax machines"
and older "stand alone" fax machines.  It's rare, but every now and then I
run across a normal fax machine the just refuses to accept a fax from a
PC.  I think you may just have a slightly different version of that same
problem, they connect but can not establish a compatible protocol and
eventually time out and hang up.
