Select your manufacturer (HP).
Select your product line (Pavilion 8500)
Select your model (Pavilion 8580C)

Now you know what your maximum memory is and what one price is. In general,
this is the most you should expect to pay for memory.

You also now know what kind of memory works - "SDRAM" and "PC100" or
"PC133". You can probably get a 128 MB PC100 or PC133 memory at an office
superstore for 1/2 the price that Crucial charges. Check the weekly
specials at the superstore websites.

As a system goes, this machine is fairly long in the tooth. If you think
you will continue using it for more than a year, then run the memory up to
the maximum - 384 MB.

Subject: [PCBUILD] adding memory

Hi,
We have added windows xp to a HP8580C 20gb hard drive with 128mb sdram.
It works fine but after connecting it tothe internet it got very
slow. We would like to know our options on adding memory and how to
add and how much?
Thanks,
