Sounds like the bios in the compac will only see 8.5

I have an IBM and it too, would only see 8.5 so I had to use the software
that comes with WD 10 gig harddrive called EZ bios or something like
that....if you do not have the instal disk, I think it is available on the WD
web site (for free)
