Hi,

Yes you need a wireless access point, I recommend the lynksys.  If you get the
4 port model, you can get rid of the hub if you want to.  Then you only need
a wireless adapter for your daughters machine.  USB is easy to setup.  I
use one to
connect machines I work on to the internet for updates.

I have a cable modem connected to the Lynksys and that connected to the a 4
port hub
that was inplace before I went wireless.  I kept it so only 1 wire needed
to go through
the wall to the lynksys.
