Yes, you can treat a CD-RW disk the same as CD-R as far as what you write to
it. The main difference being that you can erase it and start over. Most
manufacturers spec 1000 cycles.

You can also use a packet writing driver to treat the disk as a drive
letter. Examples are InCD (Nero), DLA (HP) and Direct CD.

Note that some older CD drives may not read CD-RW disks, no matter how they
are written (lower reflectivity).
