I've only had experience with the Tecras, the Thinkpads and the Apple 
laptops.  Which is why I prefer to recommend them over others.  Plus the 
Tecras and Thinkpads are corporate-level designs, somewhat conservative 
and designed to last for years and years.  I like designs with a bit of 
heft to them.

(I've used Tecras for 6 years now.  The Thinkpad T43 was a recent 
purchase for one of our users, but he seems very happy with it.  A 
Toshiba Portege didn't fare as well for one of our users, being too 
lightweight and flimsy.  So he's now using a MacBook 13".)
