My 3Com Etherlink III PCMCIA card in my IBM 760EL laptop must be installed
*initially* with a disk program (mine was a floppy).  After initial
installation, it *then* auto detects the insertion of the card into the
PCMCIA slot.  You probably need an install disk for the initial install.
