Have you tried putting it on a separate drive cable?  Some hard drives won't 
work well with others.  You can try putting the drive in an external 
enclosure and connect it via USB to the tower.  As a last resort, you can 
also put the hard drive in a airtight bag in a freezer for several hours to 
overnight to prevent the seizing of the heads, at least until it warms up 
(which happens quickly)!!  Have the temporary setup ready to go before you 
take it out of the freezer.  I have also heard that a sharp rap on a solid 
surface will free up the heads, although I haven't had any luck with that. 
I have retrieved data from several 40 Gig DeskStars with the freezer method, 
as wacky as it seems.  Good Luck!
