No, not at all ...they are engineered for the higher RPMs. You will notice
a HUGE performance increase between any 5400 RPM drive and a 7200RPM drive.
The Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 7200 RPM ULTRA 100 drives are the fastest EIDE
drives available at the moment. The reason for this is that Maxtor has
superior platter density over their competitors. I have a 30 GB DiamondMax
Plus and it is the fastest EIDE drive I have ever used....the subjective
difference between this and my Seagate 7200 RPM Barracuda is enormous. I
have been running my DiamondMax 24/7 for a year on a Windows 2000 Server
with out a single problem.
