Thanks for the help. I'm using a Diamond MX300 Monster Sound card. I tried
to get into Diamond's web site but their in the middle of merging with
another company I believe. So I couldn't get any help from them at present.
My manual says to connect powered speakers to out1,headphones to out2 or if
using 4 speakers out1 and out2. Does this mean that I could record from
out1 since you have to have powered speakers here? Could one put in a
splitter so I wouldn't have change plugs every time I wanted to record from
speakers? Since I could damage the sound card if I just experiment I would
like to get this straight.

Which is worse, to spend more than you expected or less than you should?
