Hello,

Wondering if anyone might have a suggestion here.

Bought an AMQUEST 56k HYPER- modem (made by KDS) from Tiger Software.
My IPS doesn't yet have V.90 support so I am using it as a 33.6
Problem is ...it is massively SLOW loading Web pages. Does fine with
file downloads reaching a reasonable 3.3KB per/s on a good
connection. At first I thought I was imagining it but then I
compared the download times for the same pages (after emptying the
cache in Netscape)with my 28,800 Motorola and the Motorola is
considerably faster.

Sad part is this thing boasts a special compression ratio that is
supposed to make it EVEN faster at standard connect rates.

Nothing is amiss in my settings...I have their Drivers and .inf files
installed (or so it is reported in control panel) and connect speeds
reported from my ISP are nearly always 33600.

Does anyone have experience with this modem?? Hints or suggestions.

Nothing on their web page that is of any use and they are impossible
to get through to on their support line....also have not answered my
e-mail...only saving grace is that the thing was inexpensive..(and
apparently worth it!!)

Thanks for any suggestions besides using it to keep a window open <g>

Best,
Bob Chapel
