IBM did a five year study on the Monitor  < on all the time > question and
concluded that they die earlier if left on all the time.  IBM's conclusion
and advice to their customers was to shut the monitors off once a day. This
or course also results in energy savings which off sets the cost of monitor
replacement. This may not be an issue to a single user but for a company
using 300 monitors it is an important consideration.

As far as turning your PC on and off....... as long as you don't routinely
do it more then once in a 24 hour period I wouldn't worry about it either way.

computer magazines use to test and compare monitors. They also write video
diagnostic software for professionals. There is a wealth of information on
these pages with everything from what to look for when you buy a new
monitor, how to care for it and how you should adjust it.
