The damage is not permanent. You need to de-gauss the screen. Some
monitors have a button (some on the back, front or from the menu
screen), that will start the de-gauss process. Failing that a
degaussing coil needs to be used. TV Shops would have one. Ideally,
if you can borrow it bring it home and do the monitor where it sits,
failing that take the monitor to them. It only takes a couple of
minutes to do this.
