I updated Windows 98 a few days ago; the Windows Update site
still works fine.

If you can't connect, it could be either a firewall (ZoneAlarm?)
or the Internet Explorer "privacy" settings.

In I.E., check Tools (Alt-T) -> Internet Options -> Privacy ->
Advanced.

You can check "Override automatic cookie handling" and
select "Accept" 1st party and 3rd part cookies, and
"Always allow session cookies."

Try that -- and/or go back to the Privacy dialog and click
Edit. Type "microsoft.com" and click Allow, then OK.
