Some people use 3rd party programs to check for CPU speeds.  Some check
during the POST diagnostic.  I can check mine through the BIOS, in an AMD
system.  I access the AMIBIOS Set up Utility, then choose the CPU PnP Setup.
Here, I can get the infos such as CPU Brand, Type, Speed, Core Voltage, CPU
Ratio and CPU Frequency.  I know CPU speeds are displayed during boot up but
my eyes aren't just quick enough to catch it on my system.  Hope this helps.
