Sounds like 1 of two possibilities.

1.) Either the UPS monitoring software is messing something up when it signals
the PC that a power interruption has occurred. (Assuming you are using this
feature, is the UPS connected to a serial or USB port on the computer?) You can
probably test this by disconnecting the interface.

2.) The AC switchover is not clean, if this is the case, then about all you can
do is get a better UPS, one that doesn't glitch the output.
