Hi,

the motherboard light indicates that power is being supplied to the board.

the power supply connectors to the fans (normally three pins)will normally attach in only ONE way on the motherboard but still perhaps you should re-check.

if you can post make/model of your motherboard and power supply I am sure you will get further suggestions and the problem can be resolved.this sort of a situation is faced by all first time builders and nothing to worry about.
