Actually, I got freezes after upgrading to DirectX 8 and my 3-D benchmark
scores went down.  Your mileage may vary, but unless I'm mistaken, the
nVidia 6.50 drivers don't yet use any DirectX 8 features.

Also, I hear that running AGP 4x can sometimes cause problems on KT133
chipsets, so perhaps backing of to AGP 2x would help.
