Roberto,

I would highly recommend that you invest in a USB2 card.  You have a 52X
external burner that will be limited to about 4X with USB1.  The drive
is backwards compatible, but I don't think the effort wasted in figuring
out why it won't work is worth it.  The slow speed under USB 1 is the
reason external drives didn't take off until USB2 came along.  I've
never been able to get my external burner to reliably, and consistantly
burn at over 40X, but it's still a long way from 4X to 40X.  We're
talking 22 minutes to burn a full 80 minute CD compared to about 3
minutes (don't forget lead in/out times).  You'll be much happier with USB2.
