Marshall,

I'm in a similar position to you. I took a slightly different approach.

I used a local search engine (similar to Pricewatch, I guess) to find all the
local sources, and compare their pricing as a whole.
This gave me a list of three; who I then visited personally to try to gauge
their staff knowledge, helpfulness, return and support policys etc. (I simply
acted dumb, - which wasn't hard)
This left me with a list of two, one of whom I decided to buy all my components
from. This decision was based on the feed-back and enthusiasm of the owner and
his tech. when shown a list of my likely needs. (ASUS A7V133, Duron 800, etc.)

As a result ; I am assured of personal service and support, and I get the most
competitive prices. In return, a small local business is assured of my purchases
and recommendation.

I realise that this approach isn't possible for everybody, and components can be
bought cheaper via the Net. However, in my experience, freight/courier/mail
costs generally far outweigh any advantage, and faulty returns are likely to be
money down the drain because the buyer usually has to pay freight both ways !

IMHO, Kevin..

The NOSPIN Group Promotions is now offering
Mandrake Linux or Red Hat Linux CD sets along
with our NOSPIN Power Linux CD... at a great price!!!
