Ha! I entirely disagree.

Most 3D-enabled games are 3d-limited, not processor-limited. So, as tested, Quake3 is *much* faster with Pentium II 266 + Geforce GTS, vs. Pentium III 850MHz and NVidia TNT2. (I have the latter system, my friend the former. I feel silly; mine cost more ;P)

A good resource for these kind of things is www.anandtech.com. They test processors, m/b's, vid-cards using Quake3 as well as 'normal' benchmarking suites.

You should specify which game(s) you want to play. Some games, like Unreal Tournament, are cpu-constrained, so better cpu is better.
