I would beg to differ on this answer If this had not happened to me just 2
days ago I would not believe it.

We had 5 Gateway Astros donated to us - supposededly the power supplies were
bad and replacing them would cost more that the machines were worth. The
Astros look like an oversized I-Mac.
We took them apart to check things out and when the memory was removed
someone found the CMOS battery - then asked if anyone had changed it. Of
course no one had. So we replaced the battery with a used on to test it and
lo and behold the machine fired up - before the battery replacement it was
completely dead. So....... we ran to Walmart and bought 5 new batteries and
now have 5 working Astros.
